Across cultures and generations, people have found connection, comfort, and renewal in the natural world. Research suggests that feeling connected to nature can support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress, and foster a greater sense of belonging. Shared experiences in nature can also help strengthen relationships and build community. A connection with nature is woven throughout all of our activities, helping people feel grounded, connected, and part of something larger than themselves.
Rooted in Japanese tradition, forest bathing nurtures nature connection and supports wellbeing.
Forest bathing, or Shinrin-yoku, originated in Japan as a public health initiative that encourages people to spend time immersed in natural environments.
Rather than focusing on exercise or reaching a destination, forest bathing involves slowing down and engaging with nature through the senses.
Research has linked forest bathing with reduced stress, improved mood, and positive effects on physiological measures such as blood pressure and nervous system functioning.
Studies suggest that developing a deeper connection with nature is associated with greater wellbeing, resilience, and a stronger sense of belonging.
Strengthening the wellbeing of those who support others.
Our wellbeing programmes are designed for practitioners who spend their days supporting others — teachers and school staff, social care teams, ambulance service crews, police officers, carers, and anyone working in high pressure, relational roles.
These sessions offer a restorative space to pause, reconnect, and strengthen personal resilience. We plan a range of practical, engaging activities, often outdoors and connected with nature, to help participants decompress and reset. Alongside these experiences, people have the chance to connect with others who work in similarly demanding roles — sharing insight, strengthening peer support, and building a sense of community. Together, participants may develop ways of supporting their wellbeing, managing emotional load, and sustaining compassion in challenging environments.
